Youth sailing requires a resurgence in the Saldanha Bay West Coast, primarily spearheaded by a lively Cadet Sailing Development Programme (CSDP) being run by the SAS SALDANHA Sea Cadet Corps in collaboration with Saldanha Bay Yacht Club and the Jewish Maritime League.
Baluchon is a small, 4-meter sailboat, built by Yann Quenet with his own hands. Quenet is a sailor from Brittany, France, who is sailing around the world on his tiny boat. His intention? “To have a great trip and meet new people.”

3 December 2021 - The Durban-based Sail Africa Youth Development Foundation received a massive boost, winning World Sailing's prestigious 11th Hour Racing Sustainability Award at a virtual ceremony held on Thursday night.
Hermanus Yacht Club will be hosting this year's Youth Nationals from 16-22 December 2021. The club is well suited and organised to cater for those who want to camp.

The sailing community is a small one but very robust. It’s difficult to know everything that's going on in sailing but once you hear the smallest bit of interesting information it becomes easier to find out more through word of mouth with a bit of asking around. That has been my experience of the interconnectedness of this community. This has been my experience in sailing with the recent of which happening at Zeekoevlei Yacht Club.

The Team Sailing League (TSL) continues to accomplish its mission of broadening the appeal of the sport and making it more accessible to all South Africans.
The General Botha Old Boys’ Association Bursary Fund raises funds to support and promote maritime education and training. Funds are provided to formerly disadvantaged school-going students at Lawhill Maritime Centre at Simon’s Town School.
South Africans brought their A-game this year at the annual flagship fundraising event, Bart’s Bash. Founded in 2014, the event was verified by Guinness World Records as the largest sailing event in the world.
