PYC come out tops in Bart's Bash

A massive effort from Point Yacht Club saw the Durban club emerging on top of the pile of global participants in this year’s Bart’s Bash. The event is a global sailing race taking place at 100s of venues, with 1000s of sailors in 100s of different classes of boat around the world. Founded in 2014, the event was verified by Guinness World Records as ‘The Largest Sailing Race in the World’.

Youth National Sailing Championship 2019

SA Sailing Youth National championships which will also incorporate the Optimist and Dabchick Class national championships will take place at Theewater Sports Club from 14-20 December 2019. 2020 Youth Match Racing World Championship

The 2020 Youth Match Racing World Championship, which will be hosted by Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS) will take place on Waitemata Harbour, in Auckland, from Tuesday 25 Feb - Sunday 1 March 2020. Up to 14 skippers will be invited by World Sailing. World Sailing's Member National Authorities (MNAs) may apply for an invitation for up to two skippers of their nationality

Lipton Cup 2019

This year’s Lipton Cup has been hailed as one of the greatest contests on SA waters in many years. The final result was only determined in the last few minutes of the last race after six days of racing on the newly introduced Cape31. Witbank Yacht and Aquatic Club sailing Nitro, co-skippered by Mike Hayton and David Rae, emerged as the winners for the first time in the race’s history after a titanic battle on the last day.

Six-Regatta 2020 52 SUPER SERIES Season will open in Cape Town

The 2020 52 SUPER SERIES season will visit South Africa as the showcase curtain raiser to a six-regatta year, which will also feature four reliable, popular favourites in Europe. The world’s leading grand prix monohull circuit will start with two regattas in South Africa in March and April and return to the Mediterranean for regattas in Scarlino, Tuscany in May, Porto Cervo, Sardinia in June, and Valencia in July before concluding in Mallorca at Puerto Portals in September.

SA Sailing President Philip Baum's Annual Report

Since my first report to an AGM five years ago, a great deal has been done in South African Sailing (SA Sailing). Occasionally driving up a steep hill it is informative to look back in the rear view mirror and see where one has come from. On reflection, the valley where we started is a long way below yet the top of the hill remains elusive. There have been frustrating diversions and delays, some self-inflicted by at times the federation itself and at other times by the members.
