The advent of foiling windsurf boards has extended the conditions in which windsurfers can sail and we have already seen exciting competition in the new Olympic IQ Foil Class with racing in light wind conditions that would not have been possible a few years ago

South African Kirsten Neuschäfer making waves

The four-year wait is finally over and 2022 is the year that the Golden Globe Race will take place. Set for September this year, there are two South Africans among the 25 intrepid sailors who have entered the gruelling, 30,000-mile, non-stop, solo round-the-world race. Kirsten Neuschäfer, who originally hails from Port Elizabeth, remains the only woman to have entered so far.
