The Lipton Challenge returns to Durban

For the first time in five years, the Lipton Challenge will be held on the excellent sailing waters off the Durban coast. Congrats to SA Cruising Legends

Congrats to Jenny Crickmore-Thompson, John Franklin and Peter Sherlock who have been nominated for Noonsite’s Cruising Legends series. In 2020, a great many boats were “stuck” in the Indian Ocean because of the pandemic and many border closures. The two gateways to the Atlantic, the Red Sea and South Africa, were both closed. Dramatic rescue mission successfully pulled off by SA sailor

During the build-up to the 2022 Golden Globe Race, we brought you regular updates on the two South African sailors taking part – Jeremy Bagshaw and Kirsten Neuschäfer. 16 intrepid racers set off on the 30,000-mile, nine-month, round-the-world race from Les Sables d’Olonne, France on 4 September, but they could not have predicted the drama that lay ahead, with Neuschäfer involved in a successful rescue south-east of Gqeberha. SA Sailing membership price increase - 2023

SA Sailing have covered additional costs and not applied any increases to membership fees for the last two years but can no longer continue to absorb inflation. As such the SA Sailing Council have agreed to implementing a 9% increase, effective from 1 January 2023, thus keeping ALL clubs on at the same rate.
