Growing sailing and instilling a love for the activity and its environment is core to SA Sailing strategic objectives, To be successful at this, an understanding of the diverse society we operate in is key to unlocking potential and opportunities towards seeing sailing grow to enable all South Africans throughout our affiliated Institutions and across the country.
SA Sailing has chosen to partner with an expert in this field, Beki Ngwenya, to help guide the greater sailing community through a process of understanding and unpacking aspects that impact on true inclusion with the intention of helping equip sailing organisations with tools to see success within their own efforts.
Come join us for a 2 part Workshop that will take us through the process of covering the management of diversity.
Diversity Management Workshop Info
We live and work in a diverse society with people who are vastly different to us in personality, gender, culture, race etc. Finding common ground, re-engaging and gaining perspective is vital to creating a healthy and productive environment. Guided process through thought provoking sessions, identify personal and team areas of growth and how to engage better.
The sessions will be a 5 hour session webinar workshop with SA Sailing affliated organisations on how people feel about diversity, their struggles with diversity, what they see as positives and how to engage with those different to them.
The sessions are structured in such a way as to engage delegates through asking questions about the various aspects of diversity as an open discussion. We will touch on aspects like Perceptions, Stereotypes, Unconscious bias (which is one of the highest contributors to diversity challenges) and Blindspots. We will also look at how to avoid bias enabling behaviour.
The Workshop is broken up into two 2,5 hour sessions which is a brief look at bias, stereotypes and diversity as well as inclusion. We will also touch on some challenges the organization faces with diversity and begin the process of looking at what inclusion means for the organisation and sailing
