2024 SA Sailing Instructor Development Programme

The SA Sailing National Training Programme (NTP) Is facilitated, managed, administrated and maintained by SA Sailing appointed Instructor Developers.

SA Sailing has secured funding to initiate the development of the next generation/towards newly appointed SA Sailing Instructor Developers.

Given the funding requirements, the 2024 program will take place as a 12-day programme in Mossel bay from the 18^{th of} May to the 29^th May.

In that time candidates will be trained through the SA Sailing NTP Programme and its related courses, that being

• SA Sailing Instructor course (all discipline endorsements) (4 days)
• SA Sailing Senior Instructor course (5 days)
• SA Sailing Race Coach Course (3 days)
• SA Sailing Recognised Training Centre Guidelines and Inspection requirements.
• SA Sailing Safeguarding Policy, and
• Other related policies requirements.

The programme is designed to work with and develop the appointment of new Instructor developers into the future and candidates can thus be expected to be worked with and developed with actions plans as may be necessary post the in person 12-day phase.

The programme is open to anyone who sees themselves as a someone with a passion and aptitude for teaching and mentoring to upskill and grow others into the future.

Candidates are required to have a valid SAMSA recognised Certificate of Competence (skippers’ ticket)

Candidates need to fully commit to the full program and to completing any action plans given within the allotted timeframes stipulated.

Candidates are responsible for all prerequisites requirements of appointment, and the Program bursary does not include the costs of these. Any other costs are for the candidates own account as may be relevant.
