The sailing community is a small one but very robust. It’s difficult to know everything that's going on in sailing but once you hear the smallest bit of interesting information it becomes easier to find out more through word of mouth with a bit of asking around. That has been my experience of the interconnectedness of this community. This has been my experience in sailing with the recent of which happening at Zeekoevlei Yacht Club.
Taking a couple of steps back, this article is about an organisation that I as the National Keelboat Representative have been attracted to in my mission to introduce new stakeholders into Sailing.
9Miles Project is a not-for-profit organisation that provides safe spaces and structured after-school programmes for impoverished and at-risk youth in marginalised coastal communities. Founded in 2013 they have taken great strides and find themselves going stronger +7 years later. Read more...
