Olympic wrap up August 2021

South Africa were represented by three sailors at the recent Olympic Games in Tokyo – Alex Burger and Benji Daniel in the 49er and Leo Davis in the Finn class.
Competing in their first Olympics, Burger and Daniel did well to achieve a top-10 finish in race 10 but ultimately finished 18th overall, as Britain’s Dylan Fletcher and Stuart Bithell took the gold.
Davis managed a 12th place-finish in race seven and finished 19th overall as it was once again a British sailor who dominated – defending champion Giles Scott taking the gold for the final time as the Finn class will no longer be included in the Olympic programme.Read more...
