President's Update

I hope that these contributions add value to your sailing experience, and keep you posted on what has been taking my attention at the time of writing. 

Each month when I sit down to do these contributions, I find myself amazed by the continued amount of good news that comes out of this federation and our sailing community. 

This month is no different. The showing of the South African team in the Star Sailors League Gold Cup has been phenomenal! They really made us proud, as they progressed from round to round against some really classy opposition. There was no shortage of Olympians, Americas Cup veterans and Round the World racers. Apart from legends Ian Ainslie and Mark Sadler, our team comprised people that we all regularly sail against. Young people that you run into at Wednesday Night Racing, or at a club weekend. (I think I have just started a debate as to whether Dave Rae should be included in the legend category. Is he old enough? Maybe we will categorise him as a “local legend”)... Read more...
