Youth sailing requires a resurgence in the Saldanha Bay West Coast, primarily spearheaded by a lively Cadet Sailing Development Programme (CSDP) being run by the SAS SALDANHA Sea Cadet Corps in collaboration with Saldanha Bay Yacht Club and the Jewish Maritime League.
Youth sailing will gain momentum primarily due to the location being the largest natural harbour with excellent sail training conditions all year round, plus the recruitment of a part time and well respected yachtsman, sail instructor and coach, Andre Bestha, who has served in the SA Navy and been sailing locally and abroad for 24 years. He is a qualified yachtmaster and swim instructor, has logged 38 000 nautical miles, 8 trans-oceanic passages and has competed internationally in 7 countries... Read more...
