The Royal Cape Yacht Club is looking for a full time Sailing Sponsorship & Events Manager.
The Royal Cape Yacht Club dates back to 1905 and is located in a quiet enclave tucked away in the bustle of Cape Town Harbour. It is the premier yacht club in the country and is a prime destination for sailors looking for respite from stormy weather. The Club has hosted thousands of weary sailors over the years.
The Sailing Office is the heart of our busy Club and is well known for running top sailing events, regattas, cruises, and securing sponsors/partnerships to produce high end events. This is a full time role that requires flexibility in working hours.
The Club is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, detailed focused individual, ideally with a PR and/or marketing background to manage the sailing events as an improved revenue stream for the Club.
The focus will be on the following:
- Managing social media for the sailing events;
- Sourcing and analysing the data from our social media to use in proposals for sponsors;
- Formatting a sponsorship tier structure and relevant proposals for different events;
- Presenting to potential sponsors, securing and maintaining relationships with sponsors;
- Working closely with Journalists to form partnerships and relationships with the Club;
- Working closely with the marketing manager and the sailing manager to put on successful events;
- Overseeing all land based activities for the events
Requirements:
- Fluent in English
- 3 years’ experience in social media, marketing and/or PR
- Previous sport event management experience would be useful
- Able to exercise diplomacy and tact at all levels
- Able to function under extreme pressure
- Excellent problem solving, numerical and administrative skills
- Excellent communication skills
- High levels of keyboard skills as well as skills in MS Excel, MS Word and MS Office and web-based programs
- Excellent organizational skills.
