2023 Youth Worlds Team Announcement

Five young sailors have been selected to represent South Africa at the 2023 Youth Sailing World Championships in the coastal resort town of Armação dos Búzios, Brazil from 8-16 December.

Taking to the water in the girls’ 29er class are sisters Ingrid and Lena Holm.

“At the moment we are quite busy with school so we are struggling to get on the water to train, but we are spending lots of time working on our tactics and strategy at home (which is at the moment our weakest point that needs the most attention),” explained 17-year-old skipper, Ingrid.

“We are planning a trip overseas (to Sweden) in August to gain extra experience in overseas racing in preparation for the youth worlds. We are for sure most looking forward to meeting and competing against people from all over the world, with, of course, the amazing background scenery of Brazil!
