President's Update - The New Normal

It has been with no small measure of joy that I have observed our sailing community get back on the water with a level of enthusiasm that was truly heartening.My first weeks in this position have been immersed in trying to get to grips with the number of balls that SA Sailing needs to keep in the air, from the affairs of World Sailing, the whirlpool that is the present day SASCOC, through low Vaal Dam levels, issues of access to water and tenure,the challenges facing some training facilities, fretting over staff who have been battling the virus and generally grappling with the diversity of what SA Sailing is all about.I have also been acutely aware of the members of our sailing community which we have lost to the virus, and the pressure that the lockdowns have put on the lives and finances of many of us.But, all the while, our core business has been popping its head up, and grabbing my attention. read more....
