SA Sailing celebrate accreditation renewal

World Sailing visited three of SA Sailing’s accredited training centres in the course of March as part of an audit of the National Training Programme.

General Manager Lucy de Freitas hosted the World Sailing representative and was thrilled with the outcome.

“It gives me great pleasure to advise you all that we have successfully passed and completed our World Sailing audit of our training programme, with no action plan,” she said.

“The inspector sent to us, was Richard Percy – CEO of the Andrew Simpson Foundation (Bart’s Bash). He happens to have been the inspector that awarded RSA with its initial application for recognition back in 2011.

“An incredible gentleman to work with and besides the work for World Sailing on this task, he has extended offers and access to him and some of the foundation’s resources going forward. We will definitely be exploring this aspect in the future.”
Successfully completing and passing the World Sailing audit is vitally important in that it is the mechanism to unlocking funding which is essential to the implementation of the SA Sailing Development Plan.

The next inspection will take place in 2027 via electronic submission with 2031 being the next in-person inspection.
