Wishing Youth World sailors well

Hundreds of young sailors will converge on the spectacular Lake Garda in Italy to compete in the 2024 Youth Sailing World Championships.

Team RSA is made up by the following sailors:

29er girls – Ingrid and Lena Holm

29er boys – Sean Kavanagh, Max Celliers

ILCA 6 girls – Isabella Keytel

ILCA 6 boys – Noah Clulow

Among them will be Michael Kavanagh, team leader and 29er coach, and Alistair Keytel with the ILCA 6s. We wish all the best to these young South African sailors and their coaches and look forward to watching them fly the nation’s flag high on the international stage.

The Youth Sailing World Championships is open to young sailing stars up to the age of 19, with around 1600 young sailors from over 75 countries aiming to follow in the footsteps of several Olympic and world champions who tasted their first success at the youth event.

The opening ceremony will take place on Saturday 13 July, with a practice race the following day and competitive racing getting underway on Monday 15 July.

The 29er boys are in Poland to compete in the 29er European Champs  as a warm up leading into the Youth Word Champs.  The Emerging Nations Programme candidates, Noah and Isabella  jet off for their training this week.
